Leonie Stanton

Leonie Stanton makes sculptural thrown ceramics, often double walled, looking at the interaction between form, volume, geometry and surface texture. To achieve this, the clays are mixed with hand-made grog or molochite, thrown and inlaid, and finally polished after firing. She works in series, making collections of responses, trying to capture a balance between the scale, the intimacy and the solidity of the form.

Leonie has a background in Art and Design History, Fine Art Painting and Ceramics.  She completed the two year Diploma in Ceramics at City Lit with extensive further training under John Colbeck and Pietro Maddalena at The International School of Ceramics in Tuscany.

Currently based in London.
