Visiting Katharina Klug's studio

cambridge contemporary artComment

Our photographer Zuza Grubecka visited Katharina Klug’s Cambridge pottery studio last year. Still pregnant at the time, Katharina worked day and night on developing her porcelain pieces - mainly sets of cylinders and bottles. Katharina and Zuza work together regularly and they document Katharina’s work from very early stages to the last firing.

It’s extremely satisfying to see how the chalky whites and pastel pinks turn into Katharina’s signature vibrant monochrome pieces with a hint of red. Below you can listen to Katharina’s interview where she talks about her work, inspirations and life in Cambridge.

We are reopening!

Monday 15 June

It thrills us to announce that from Monday 15th June we will be able to welcome you in the gallery again.

Monday - Saturday 9am-5.30pm and Sundays 11am-5pm

There’s no denying the last few months have been very difficult for us at cambridge contemporary art and cambridge contemporary crafts.

Like so many other small businesses cambridge contemporary art has fallen through the cracks with regards to government grants and with 6 members of staff still furloughed we have only  been able to survive thanks to the amazing support from our loyal customers.

We have been working very hard behind the scenes to keep the business going, opening a brand new online shop in just three weeks. Our much anticipated Ceramic Show had to move online as well.

For those who cannot visit us in Cambridge, we plan to continue expanding our online output. We have already welcomed so many new followers on Instagram and Facebook.

The coming months on the high street will be very tricky and we know it is the continued support of our customers and community that will help us to keep going.

On behalf of everybody at cambridge contemporary art and all the artists who we represent - THANK YOU!

We would like to reassure you that we have put in place new health and safety measures for the protection of staff and customers. These measures include limiting the number of people in the gallery, increased cleaning and hand sanitiser being available at the entrance.
